Fishing 101 –
The Joy of Fishing
Fishing is an enjoyable and relaxing activity that allows you
to spend quality time with family members, close friends, and
best of all, to revel in the many delights of nature.
Now, fresh water fishing constitutes an activity that entails
hooking fish in streams, lakes, and rivers. It calls for
plenty of tolerance, daring and provides one the opportunity
to pick up new skills in the long run. Anybody can take part
in this pleasurable pursuit, more so children.
Begin with identifying your state’s regulations pertaining to
fishing and ensure whether a permit is required to engage in
this sport. If one is needed, you can obtain it from a sports
goods shop. They will be all too happy to assist you in
getting one and others will even get it for you.
While you are at your preferred sporting equipment store, you
can spend the time to search for the correct fishing gear that
you may require for the tour. Since you are a novice, ensure
that you plan your finances to take in the cost of the
equipment and do not go in for highly priced fishing gear; but
just the essential things you require.
If you are indecisive with regard to what gear is required,
seek the assistance of the sales person, remembering that you
should stay within the planned expenditure. Browse around the
store and do not be embarrassed to inquire about the working
of each article of equipment displayed to you. You can select
from employing artificial lures or just picking insects from
the garden to be used as bait.
A reasonably priced rod and reel are adequate together with
hooks, weights, fishing line, a bobber to keep the line
afloat, net and fishing lures. Anti glare protection for the
eyes will help as it allows clear visibility through the water
plus, reduces the glare.
In case you are unaware about some good spots for fishing,
enquire about the popular areas in the neighborhood or go over
the State’s regulations on fishing for getting the necessary
information on the best fishing sites in the State.
Over time, you will acquire the skills of a good angler and
then perhaps you may opt for owning better gear. Up until
then, lead the simple life!
While out on a fishing trip, it always prudent to take a
friend along with you. In case there is a crisis, you will
always have somebody to call for assistance.
It is prudent to look for fish in less deep waters. Fish
usually abound in sheltered, rock strewn regions where the
water depth is just that much deeper and you will be
successful if you throw your cast in these areas. Just
remember that this is only a trial at first.
As you slowly become proficient, you may then explore the
possibility of fishing in deeper areas. However, prior to
doing this put into practice your casting skills to become
acquainted with the rod and reel.
There is never a better place than your own very back yard to
practice fishing. Just denote an area with the help of a rope
and try to throw your cast in this area. Practice and read
your actions to learn a process that will help you. Just
remember to use your wrist for casting instead of the arm.
Now, fishing hooks are razor sharp and should be carefully
managed to prevent the possibility of being wounded. Prior to
throwing your cast, glance around and remain within people’s
eyesight to ensure that you do not injure people around with
your fishhook.
When the moment has finally arrived and you are actually going
fishing, remember to cast the fishing line always in front of
the fish, allowing your bait to break surface gradually,
without splattering the water around too much. Fish usually
can see objects at close range but are unable to see the rear.
In case, the casts are swinging in a chaotic manner, it is
advisable that you shift nearer to the water in order to
achieve better precision.
Keep an eye on the bobber for signs of stirring. As and when
the fish takes hold of the bait, you will notice that the
bobber is tugged into the water. This indicates you just
caught a fish on your line. Do not get all wound up. Stay
cool.
Holding the fishing line firmly, gradually roll in the catch.
Deposit the net close by, using it to get the fish out. Be
very careful when unhooking the fish.
Quickly put back any small fish (as listed in the state
regulation manual) in the water. Similarly, if you do not plan
on consuming your catch, rather than wasting it, just release
it into the water. This will help to replenish the stock of
fish in the water, providing other anglers with the
exhilarating experience of catching fish.
In the end, just gaze around and soak in the unruffled,
relaxed, and peaceful river scene.
Enjoy! |
